It was my 19th birthday yesterday, and I'm LEGAL now, bitches! It was a pretty low-key day, which frankly, I was okay with. Genevieve and Clayton took me out for poutine. We ended up walking a shitload of a distance. We passed Union Station and the Royal York, which apparently is like 14 city blocks. Lots of people out for TIFF, which was slightly annoying. Anyhoo, then we went to see District 9 at the cheap theatre. Cheap for Toronto apparently is 8.50, while in Saskatoon if you go to the Rainbow it's like three dollars. District 9 is gory, dark, and depressing, but as I reflected on it later, I actually quite liked it. In retrospect, it was a little ham-handed with the whole apartheid parallel, but that wasn't an issue while actually watching it. Anyway.
So then we walked down Yonge, looking for a pub. Clayton and I liked it because we were "walking down Yonge Street on a Friday", just like k-Os says in the song. Yonge is not very pubby, as we soon found out. We ended up at the campus bar. We had to show our ID's at the door and get our bags searched. Some guy started talking to Genevieve IMMEDIATELY, briefly paid attention to me when he shook my hand and then said happy birthday, and then kept talking to Genevieve. Genevieve ended up talking to three strangers at the two bars we went to, and we decided it was because of the plaid shirt Clayton lent her. Anyway, we didn't stay at the campus pub for very long. I had a Smirnoff Ice and some kind of blue drink that was really good, and then we moved on to a place called the Imperial Pub. My friend told me to get a vodka special but the bartender didn't know what it was and when I explained that it was vodka and lime juice she was like, "why didn't you just ask for vodka and lime juice?" I had two of those, some kind of random shot, another vodka special, and a rum and coke. We asked for a Skittles but apparently those don't exist in Ontario either. Some guy at the table next to ours was complaining because in the engineering program, only about 10% of the students are girls. Clayton said it was 30%, and then this other guy's like, "I'm a firefighter! There's one chick and she's ugly!" He then guessed our ages and couldn't believe I was nineteen. He thought I was 23 for some reason, despite the fact that everything thinks I'm younger than I actually am.
Anyway, I'm not a drinker so that's the most I've ever drunk at one time before. I was having trouble walking, and a LOT of trouble texting. But my mind still felt pretty clear. I got home at around one, got ready for bed, threw up, and then had some weird dreams. I woke up the next day feeling pretty nauseous so I stayed awake in bed for like an hour and a half and also talked to Mom who was surprisingly cool about the bar thing. Oh also, scrambled eggs=great hangover cure.
Anyway, my floor is currently having a party for me and some other guy whose birthday is tomorrow but I stayed for an hour and then came to my room with some other people and just hung out. I REALLY was not feeling it tonight. I've been feeling slightly sick all day and whenever I looked at alcohol I thought I was going to puke. I'm pretty sure everyone else was too drunk to care though. I feel so sorry for my friend Karen. Her roommates are huge partiers and bring people back all the time and the party is actually in her room so she's hanging out in my room. I'm glad we all have an agreement in my dorm to not party in here, because none of us wants the mess.
Anyway, I'm aware this was pretty boring but I wanted it in here for posterity.
On the menu tomorrow: I've finally found something to snark at! I'll be recapping Vol. 1 of Frank Miller's All-Star Batman and Robin. I haven't really read many comic books, so we'll see how that goes. I actually did a lot on that today, but Firefox was stupid and crashed and I lost most of it and I didn't feel like rewriting it tonight.

Sounds like a good night out to me, at least you can go in bars! I have to get strangers to buy mine for me! And I can't even drink it in public. I have to find some out the way place where no one but I and my friends know and go.
But even through all that, I still drink more than you did and don't throw up :P lol, sorry, couldn't resist stroking my own ego.
Lol I know, I'm such a lightweight. At least I don't have to spend as much though.
Yeah, you're a lightweight, for sure. :P
But actually, that was quite a bit of alchohol, so you did pretty good there.
Vodka specials are pretty good.
And anything that's blue is usually yummy. xD
lol when i read "weird dreams" at first glance thought it said wet dreams. hahaha
