Random Rants About Stuff

Hey, you guys, I'm not a talentless hack! My prof is reading my Nano and I think she likes it. She was raving about the dialogue. Well, maybe raving isn't best word, but she thought it was good. Thank God for that. I know I'm not the best with physical description, but I love doing the dialogue, and I love my dialogue but I thought maybe I'm the only one who likes it. I try to do a kind of Gilmore Girls/Veronica Mars/Dresden Files thing but I'm never sure if it's working the way I want it to. So that's cool. No one ever reads my stuff, so I only have myself to go on. Well, Amanda and Mar have read my stories but they never really say much. I don't really know anyone who knows writing. Except for my brother, but I gave him my Nano a long time ago and he never read it and his criticism is kind of harsh (He ripped apart my Allecto rebuttal, and I was sad) so I'm kind of scared to let him read my stuff. And my sister, except I know if I give her my Nano she will never get around to reading it. And my mom, but I swear a lot in my stories and I still want her to have the illusion that I'm a clean cut child.

Anyway, moving on. Let's talk Stargate. That show is the worst for shippers. I mean THE WORST. You will only be disappointed if you ship, as I know so well. I was a Carter/O'Neill shipper but we got nothing except for a kiss in a time loop that everyone forgot about later. I was a Carter/Martouf shipper, but nothing happened there. They may have kissed but I can't remember. Atlantis is even worse though, IF THAT'S POSSIBLE. Nothing happened with John/Teyla. The wonderful chemistry between Carter and McKay that was so great on SG-1 completely disappeared in season 4 of Atlantis. Keller and Ronon had an almost kiss and then NOTHING. They didn't talk about it, it was never mentioned, and I don't even think they spoke to each other again. Then Keller asked out McKay and then NOTHING. We find out later that in the future they do get together and then SPOILER she dies. COME ON, SGA. I know you're doing this just to fuck with the fans. And I don't want the show to turn into a full fledged space opera a la Torchwood because that would ruin everything, but COME ON. Give me SOMETHING.

The X-Files was almost as bad but at least I knew that Mulder and Scully eventually end up together. The X-Files was also way better when they weren't together, because when they kissed in the season 7 ep Millennium, it was the most passionless thing I had ever seen. Their chemistry was way better when they weren't together. But X-Files fucks with me as well. In the first movie they have that almost kiss and then Scully gets stung by a bee. I would have thrown something at the computer if I had something on hand. I was so mad. X-Files is really good with UST. Like, I'm not a slash fan AT ALL, and I don't support way out there couples but is it my imagination or do Mulder and Krycek have some of the best (but weird) UST on the show? I was rewatching The Red and the Black (season 5) and Krycek kisses Mulder on the cheek and calls him brother in Russian and I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT THAT THE FIRST TIME AROUND.

Man, and don't even get me started on The Dresden Files. MURPHY AND DRESDEN WERE MEANT FOR EACH OTHER ;ADFHASDKF. The two or three books where Susan was the main love interest, I just wanted to kill her. I found her so annoying. I can't even describe the relief when she got bitten by a vampire and went away. Now it's looking like Murphy and Dresden will never get together. Kind of related but not really is my anger at Murphy's refusal to take the fucking sword. I want her to be one of those people to wield the holy sword but no. So thanks, Jim Butcher. Oh, and in the TV series, Dresden has to kiss Murphy to get her to slap him so he can get more emotion for his spell and at the end she's like, "If you do that again, I won't slap you." AND THEN THE SERIES GOT CANCELLED.
