Billy Talent

Okay, so yesterday we went to Billy Talent! It was very very exciting! We left home at around 9:30 and got to Saskatoon at like...12ish? Something like that. We went shopping, I got a leather jacket for 15 bucks. Then I went to Lindsay's and burnt a cd.
At 6:15 we left for the Credit Union Place and got there at around 6:30. We had to walk quite a ways, and it was FREEZING! We then stood in line for merch (Moneen started before I got mine, so I waited until after) and went and sat in our section (G) and I was feeling quite sad because I wanted to be on the floor jumping and screaming, and our section was quite stodgy. But between Moneen and Anti-Flag we found Katherine and Maria and hung out with them. Both Moneen and Anti-Flag gave these like, motivational speeches (Moneen about not letting people tell you what you can't do and Anti-Flag about tolerance) and I wasn't expecting a self esteem booster when I went to a punk concert! Then after Anti-Flag we went to stand by the rail, but Lindsay and I got kicked out of there because we were in someone's spot. So we stood on the stairs, but we got kicked out of there, then we went to stand behind Maria and Katherine on the stairs. After Rise Against I think, we got kicked out of there, and we ended up sitting in this long empty row, but turns out we were sitting in someone's spot, so we got kicked out AGAIN! Then Katherine and I got separated from Maria and Lindsay during a merch run. They were down standing on the stairs, and we were in a row. Then they got kicked out and four of us stood in a row meant for two people.

Moneen and Anti-Flag were okay, I'm not a huge fan of either. Anti-Flag was slightly scary with their anti-Bush rants. Rise Against was AWESOME, they played lots of stuff from The Sufferer and the Witness and I sang along and had my hands in the air and whatnot. I swear I saw Tim McIlrath (not sure if that's his name) from Rise Against look in our direction, and Lindsay and I both remember Ben looking in our direction a bit. There were lots of people crowd surfing on the floor and I wanted to crowd surf soooo badly! But we didn't have floor tickets. Lindsay and I were contemplating jumping over the partition and then the rail, because two security guards near us were talking to some girls, but we forgot/chickened out. On the floor people were throwing beer in the air and sometimes we would get a whiff of weed. I waved the cell phone quite a few times, it was fun.

Billy Talent was soooo awesome! Like, wow! I am still in shock! Ben took off his shirt and EVERYONE started cheering. And then Ben was talking about his ex (before he sang The Ex) and he called her the queen of the evil team of the earth, or something. Lindsay and I were trying to remember but we couldn't. He also said that George Bush was a very evil man. Linday said she was surprised it got so political, but I wasn't. Punk has always been political, except for the Ramones, who just sang about wanting to be sedated.

I didn't pull a muscle like I did last time when I limped through Winnipeg, so that was good. After the concert Lindsay and I went for a Slurpee run and our feet both hurt so much. It was awesome. I had lots of fun.

Ciao
