Supernatural/Screnzy

Dudes, Script writing is hard. When I first started on this venture I assumed it was going to be basically novel writing except with lots of dialogue. But no. Maybe plays are differently, but I'm doing TV scripts. You have to visualize everything. I have quite a few voiceovers, and I have to think about what is happening while those voiceovers are happening. It's way easier to get my daily count in though. Scripts go by pages, not words, and with the program I have, the pages are smaller so it only takes like an hour to my page count in. Plus, I'm adapting, so I never get writer's block. So it's going pretty well so far, once I got used to how different it was.

Anyway. Let's talk Supernatural. I really like season 4. I'm not one of those crazy fans who complain about EVERYTHING. The only complaints I have/had about Supernatural was Jo being pushed as a love interest, and the disappearance of Katy Cassidy as Ruby, but only because Ruby's personality completely changed. I really like the portrayal of angels as more morally ambiguous than you would think. It really IS a crapsack world, and I much prefer that to Smeyer's butterfly and unicorn world of Twilight.

I loved the stripped down atmosphere of Season 1, where the cast of characters was essentially just Sam and Dean. I didn't really like Jo and her mom, but I loved Ash. Then in season 3 it took me awhile, but I really liked Ruby, and I loved to hate Bela. She was a cool character. And of course who doesn't like Bobby? Now in season 4 we have the inclusion of the angels. I really disliked them at first. But now Uriel is gone and Castiel is kind of morphing from a bastard to an awesome, humourless bastard! He's kind of got this Terminator vibe, where he is completely without humour, so when he does try to make a joke ("You should have seen Luke!") it's absolutely hilarious. Everyone is randomly calling him Cas for some reason. Like everyone. Which reminds me of Breaking Dawn when everyone randomly started calling Jasper Jazz for no reason. And he's helping out Dean and generally being a nicer guy. I have an irrational, Doggett-like love for him.

Also, not sure if this is a good or bad thing: Sam was the most important brother in the first few seasons and now Dean is. I like Dean, so yay for more screen time! But it just seemed like a really abrupt change.

I loved this week's episode. Sam and Dean find a series of books about their adventures. There was a whole postmodern, meta twist where they were talking about how the books weren't that popular but have an intense fan following, kind of like Supernatural the show. They also mentioned how the fans complain a lot (also true) and expressed disgust at Wincest (THANK GOD, they acknowledge how gross that is.) ("You mean...together together? Don't they know we're brothers?" "That...doesn't seem to matter.") I just love this show so much and I never want it to jump the shark.

You know that "Jump the Shark" is the name of the next episode?

Fuck. That doesn't bode well. Although it could be an homage to the X-Files episode "Jump The Shark" but that is my least favourite episode seeing as how my favourite recurring characters died in that one...oh shit, what if Bobby dies?
