The DC concert was so awesome! The doors opened at 6, but we lined up at 5 and stayed in line until about 5:45 and then it started moving so we stood up, and were standing for a long time, and I think we got to the concert venue around...I dunno...maybe 6:15ish, and then Maria and I stood in line for shirts (I got a City and Colour one and a Dashboard one) and got our places at the venue at 6:30. We we were way to the right side so we could be closer, and we were about the fifth row, but as the concert progressed we moved up to the second and third rows (Maria second row, me right behind her). There was this really tall girl blocking my view and we asked her to move a little to the right so we could see the lead singer, but this other girl got all mad and was like "then I won't be able to see, that won't help anybody," and I was like "um, it will help us." So we were standing for like, half an hour. This tall guy was standing behind me, and we were so close that I could feel him breathing on my neck, and at one point I felt this rush of air on the top of my head which scared the shite out of me, but it was him breathing on me. Then John Ralston came on, and no one knew who he was and we were all anxious for DC so no one was that excited about seeing him. Then there was a break, and the people in the back were shoving and everyone got squished together, and I was touching this one girl's boob for a really long time because I couldn't move my hands. I was like "if I touch you in any innappropriate places, I'm sorry." Then her, me, and Maria were chatting. You can't help but make friends when you intimately touch them. Then City and Colour came on, which was so exciting! There was this guy who was screaming stuff like "I LOVE YOU DALLAS!" and "YEAH!" and Dallas was joking and was like "did I hear swearing?" (to another section) and this guy was like "FUCK YOU DALLAS! I LOVE YOU!" and Dallas was like "can I have a round of applause for John Ralston?" and this guy was like, "FUCKING JOHN RALSTON! I FUCKING LOVE YOU DALLAS!" and we found out later he was on either drugs, alcohol, or both, and passed out and was removed. Dallas then sang Comin' Home and he stepped away from the microphone and expected us to sing but no one did, and then he asked for participation and we started again.
Then there was a fifteen minute break between City and Colour and Dashboard, and this curtain went down, and the people started shoving again. This is when I ended up in the third row. Then the lights dimmed, and lights started going on in different places so we could see the outline of the band and hear them playing and then the curtain fell down and...
I SAW CHRIS CARRABBA!!! It was SO EXCITING! Ahh....I'm still sort of in shock. He threw out two picks I think to people but he didn't throw one to the right side, of COURSE. But he did come over and he was like THREE FEET from me!
And no, I didn't get eye sexed. But I THINK we made eye contact twice, but I'm not too sure. It was exciting. It was so fun how he did the same stuff he does on my live cd, like in The Good Fight he goes "I begged you not to go" and then he let us sing "I begged you, I pleaded" and in the Swiss Army Romance he let us sing the part that goes "We're not twenty one, but the sooner we are, the sooner the fun will begin" etc. It was so awesome! He also sang Vindicated, and Hands Down, which EVERYONE knew. I couldn't hear one particular person, it was more like a giant entity, except for the guy that was standing behind me (not the one that breathed on me) who was singing SO out of tune. It was funny.
There was this really short girl, like 4'11" who kept pushing me but I sure wasn't going to let her in front of me.
Maria phoned Katherine during a song and held up the phone. Then Maria turned to me and gave me a look like "I sure hope that was Katherine." Then I phoned Katherine later and was like "did you hear when Maria phoned you?" and she was like "Maria phoned me?" It turns out that was Katherine's mom and she was going to call the cops cuz she heard someone yell fire and a bunch of screaming.
Then afterwards, we wanted to wait and meet Chris Carrabba but we couldn't see him and we weren't sure how long it was going to be, so we started to leave and saw Dallas Green walking down the empty hallway! I was like "that's Dallas Green," but no one heard me and I was like "Mom, that was Dallas!" and she's like "Dallas? Go get a picture with him!" and then Maria started running and was like "DALLAS!" and then I started running and yelling his name like we were on a first name basis and some girls heard us and was like "that's Dallas Green!" and I was like "can I get a picture with you?" and there was this big lineup for pictures but Maria and I got them first. It was so cool!
I gotta go. Bye bye!
